Boundaries. Demarcation zones. The visual equivalent of "go no further". Deep within us lies the centuries-old understanding of just what a boundary is. The fact that the boundary can take many shapes and forms does nothing to change our opinion of what it is and what it means. We are conditioned to recognise the significance of its position and meaning regardless of its construction. Many of my landscapes feature some boundary or other; who is not interested in what lies beyond an open gate,or door, or gap in a wall?
