When I started out to be self-employed as an artist, I took the New Business Allowance set up by the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. Whilst on the course, I had to meet regularly with an advisor, whose job it was to give me advice about all aspects of running my own business. One of his suggestions was to paint one of Richard Branson's 747's, and submit the image for their approval and possible printing, as, he put it, Mr. Branson was "a man of the people". Yeah, right. A nice letter back said thanks, but no thanks.
