Ace Of Hearts

Major William Barker of 139 Squadron in combat with Albatros scouts above Motta airfield on the Italian front on 20th. July 1918. Flying his Sopwith Camel B.6313 Major Barker achieved 52 victories on both the Italian and Western fronts, and was ultimately awarded the Victoria Cross for an engagement with an overwhelming number of enemy aircraft in October 1918. The title refers to the pilot's personal motif on the Camel's tailfin.
