Polish Spirit
A mk.IX Spitfire returns from a "rhubarb" or hit and run raid over occupied Europe in 1943. The aircraft is from 303 Polish Squadron based at Northolt and carries the squadron emblem and the Polish flag on the nose. 303 Squadron was the second Polish fighter squadron to be formed in the R.A.F. in August 1940, but was the first to see action in the Battle of Britain.Composition: acrylic on canvas
